Leg 11: So for this leg we looked to the island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean. After abysmal weather in LGTS, I was ready to put the rain behind me and look for some sun. Cyprus did not disappoint. We headed for Larnaca International Airport (LCLK) which is located southeast of Cyprus. This is the main international airport on the island and when it was opened back in the 70's actually accelerated the closure of the airport in Nicosia on the island. Cyprus is a bit of a hot-spot destination in Europe for Island getaways, and as a result, LCLK has seen an increasing number of passengers year over year. We utilized the VOR approach for runway 04 and landed without incident and with much more pleasant conditions than LGTS!

Leg 12: After enjoying some nice r&r on the beautiful island of Cyprus, we looked south to north Africa, and one of the most well known historical cities in the world, Alexandria. Alexandria International (HEAX) was smaller than I expected given the city's renown, the sole runway present was just over 7000 feet. Despite the smaller airport, the night flight into Alexandria was beautiful, a clear night made for a picturesque view as we approached the lit up coastal city. Our flight time here was just shy of two hours, coming in at an hour and 45 minutes. Sadly, I realized after this enjoyable flight that HEAX was closed back in 2011 for renovations and unfortunately later was confirmed it would be retired permanently. The north coast is now serviced by Borg El Arab Airport.
For Leg 13 we look to Egypt inland, and Hurghada International Airport.
