So our 3rd leg sees us fly north and westward to a little place called CFB Goose Bay. We left St. John's (CYYT) under cover of darkness heading to CYYR.

This flight was a little lighter, with less passengers travelling to the remote CFB Goose Bay. Our route was via the following waypoints, YYT, YQX and given we were flying west, we utilized FL280.
Goose Bay CFB is located in the joyfully named Happy Valley-Goose Bay, which as of the last census boasted a population of approximately 8000 people. The original settlers here back in the early 1940s were families who came to work on the construction of the CFB.

The trip was shorter than prior legs, 451nm hovering just around an hour at our .74 Mach speed. We had the excellent Moncton CTR directing us for this flight who assisted us with the final approach into Goose Bay CFB. The elevation of the land for the airport approach can be challenging as it sits higher relative to the runway. We made the landing on runway 16 without incident however thanks to some calmer winds and a clear night approach, which was a welcome relief after the tension of St. John's approach!
Our next leg sees us leave Canada for foreign lands for the first time as we look onward to Greenland!
